REGULAR ROUTE FARE POLICY
|
The base fare for PVTA is $1.00. This fare provides our passengers their first five miles of transportation. Beyond the first five miles the rate increases at approximately five cents per mile.
Children under 6 accompanied by an adult may ride PVTA buses free. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 and accompanied by an adult may ride for one-half the regular fare.
Senior citizens (those age 62 and over) and disabled individuals (verification of a disability may be required from a physician) may ride regular routes for one half the regular fare.
The Potomac Valley Transit Authority offers a Five Dollar Discount Pass for use on regular route services. These passes can be purchased for five dollars and they entitle the rider to six dollars worth of rides. The passes are honored only on regular route services (no work services, demand services, or non emergency medical service).
To purchase a Five Dollar Discount Pass just ask one of our drivers.
Passengers riding PVTA work services can purchase multi-day passes. The cost of the pass is determined multiplying the regular round trip fare for the service you use by the number of days you wish to ride. While these passes are not discounted, they do allow riders to save the time necessary to pay a fare daily. Work passes are non-refundable, but can be transferred to (used by) another rider. To purchase a pass, talk to your driver.
